NOPE, not buying it.Īnd what in the bejeezus is a guy with a bung leg doing hiking across the country. He hated being restrained but allowed a man he'd just met to bind him! After stating he had a paralyzing fear of losing control. Why did the older guy leave the scene? The younger man (can't remember their names) didn't know what BDSM was but then said he didn't like gags! There were a few other things that made no sense to me. Had the subject never been addressed I wouldn't have even thought about it, but the minute it was I wanted to know more. "No, no family, no friends." And it was never mentioned again. One of the characters was asked if he had any family and replied. So at the end of the day, I was left with more question than answer, and there for the story fell short of what I'd call a great read. I think the problem was, that after the set up too many vital things were dropped in about the characters that were never expanded on. I'd seen other reviews saying there was little character development and I didn't find that to be the case at all initially. When I started the story I was hooked right in. So am just going to put it out there.įirstly and foremost, I have to say these two authors have some serious talent. I have procrastinated over reviewing this short story for two days now. I’ll definitely be in line when the next one is ready. I loved getting glimpses into these guys’ backgrounds and really hope to learn more as the story progresses. At first, things seem a bit cliché, but the rest really didn’t play out that way. This was a quick read, but it is full of emotion. Eventually, these guys were on the same page, and I’m really looking forward to reading more of their story. So, miscommunication is now the name of the game. Slade’s eyes are opened and he believes it is what he needs, but not knowing and not wanting to assume if Callum is even interested in giving it to him long-term, he is determined to find it elsewhere. that could help Slade given what Callum’s seen of his issues (PTSD, grief, etc.) and his signs of submissiveness. After a discussion the next morning, Callum suggests of some other activities, etc. Through all of this, little things set off sparks – the hint at restraining Slade quickly sets Slade at ease, which, in turn, wakes Callum’s dom side. That is, until a nightmare wakes Slade and Callum can’t help but console him. Callum offers a skittish Slade a place to sleep for the night, and though Callum is a bit intrigued, he keeps to himself.

He’s been injured, discharged from the military, hitchhiking across country ending up in the boonies where he stumbles upon Callum’s cabin. I didn’t realize it when I read this, but I was really excited to see that this was the start of a series. This was a really interesting little story showing a lot of long-term potential.
